Professional Development
SAU#9 is committed to providing high quality, job-embedded professional development to our staff. Professional development takes place in different forms, based upon the needs of our students and educators. Our teacher workshop days provide opportunities for teachers to work in collaborative teams towards reaching school and district goals including the implementation of competency-based education, writing high quality learning objectives, and workshop model. There are after school opportunities in the forms of instructional seminars on topics from determined as a result of survey data from our educators. Additional professional development experiences are provided through mini-courses in areas such as Quality Performance Assessment (QPA) and leadership. Teacher leaders, administrators, and consultants structure the work to encourage growth and reflection. Our elementary literacy lab cohort continues to meet together to advance knowledge and skill in developing strong literacy skills within our students and practices within our classrooms. Teachers are provided opportunities to participate in off-site conferences, and then return to the district to share their learning with others. Our Professional Development Master plan is a tool we will use to focus and drive our work.
