My name is Rachel Bryant, and I am the new School Nurse here at John Fuller Elementary School.  I am very excited to be a part of this great school community, and look forward to the opportunity to work with and care for all of the students and their families. I am responsible for monitoring the health and wellness of all of the students.  I review the health histories and physical exams of all new students and monitor students’ compliance with NH immunization law.  I also handle the accidents and illnesses that occur during the school day, and administer medications and treatments as needed.  Please feel free to call me if you have any questions or concerns.

H1N1 UPDATE FOCUS: PREVENTION

To protect our school community, we will continue to implement strict sick policies and insist that staff and students with influenza-like illness remain at home for the duration of their illness, until 24 hours after their fever is gone without the use of fever-reducing medications during that time.

We will continue to work closely with the NH Dept of Health and Human Services and the Department of Education to ensure that we are doing all that we can to keep our children and staff healthy this flu season.

We are following cleaning guidance including ensuring that areas that are frequently touched are cleaned during the day.

It is essential for any person in our community with underlying conditions to contact their providers at the very beginning of flu symptoms. This includes those with asthma, children under 2 years old, adults 65 years and older, and pregnant women.  Anyone concerned with symptoms should contact their health care provider.

The CDC has launched a new Travel Health Campaign as families gather over the holidays:

-TRAVEL ONLY WHEN YOU ARE WELL

-WASH HANDS OFTEN

-COVER YOUR COUGH AND SNEEZE WITH TISSUES OR SLEEVE

-GET VACCINATED AGAINST THE FLU
